Timothy Tran is a still-life and street focused photographer based in Brooklyn, New York. Born in 1985, Australia, Queensland, they spent their youth in the south eastern suburbs, point and shoot camera hand. A trip to their South Vietnam family hometown in their early teens unlocked their passion for photography. Far from home, extended family, a language barrier. Timothy found comfort in their camera as they photographed remote landscapes, family, strangers, and rural everday life.
Self taught and obsessed with gear, Timothy has experience with point and shoot, rangefinders, and mirrorless cameras of various brands and sensor sizes. Comfortable with shooting wide angle to telephoto focal ranges, Timothy finds joy in approaching photography with both spontaniety and limits.
"Photography has brought me so much joy. It has helped me connect with strangers, preserve memories, given my awkward hands something to do when I walk. Most importantly, it has given my mind a safe space to retreat into, mindfulness is easy to come by when I relax my eyes and simply focus on light and shadows." - Timothy Tran
